What is Prayer?

Of all the things that we do as church, we think that Prayer is a amazing tool for advancing our relationship with our Father in heaven. In the most simple terms  - prayer is talking; and listening; to God. You don't have to use fancy words - just be yourself and if you have never done it before - use this handy anagram to help you start!

S - SORRY - Say Sorry to God for the things you have done

T - THANKS - Thank God for all that He has done for you and gives you.

O - OTHERS - Pray for other people that you are worried or concerned about.

P - PLEASE - Ask God for what you need, ask for guidance, peace, strength or confidence.

When you have finished praying, let go of the things you have given over to God. There is no use praying about something, and then holding on to it. If it helps, light a candle and when you have finished praying - blow it out. Imagine your words and your worries floating up to God with the smoke from the candle.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.
Now and for ever. Amen.
